This year marks the 31st Annual Library Fair. And in today’s economic climate it’s important to find a wholesome fun-filled event for everyone. From its famous book sale to its food and entertainment, the Library Fair is where you want to be on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library organization who assists in supplementing the library’s budget, especially its children’s programming. If you haven’t already visited the library’s website, http://www.tllsga.org you’ll want to do so in order to see an up-to-the-minute listing of sponsors, donors, events, and more.
They’re still in need of assistance with the Fair. If you’re in a position to donate or become an event sponsor, please do so by contacting Barry Reese at 478-452-0677 ext. 25 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are interested in volunteering for the event please visit their website and fill out the online form. Volunteering questions should be directed to LaToya Davidson at 478-452-0677 ext. 24 or email@example.com. Book donations are always welcome at the Mary Vinson Memorial Library. Feel free to drop them off any time during its open hours. If you need a deed of gift for your taxes one can be provided as well. They’re also in need of bake sale and flea market items and of course the hope is that the entire community will come out and support the event. The Fair is nothing without you!
“A lot goes into the Fair. We depend on the generosity of our patrons in order to present you with a top-notched event,” says Library Assistant Director and Fair Co-Coordinator LaToya Davidson. “It’s our only big event and we depend on its proceeds each year. We hope this year to net over $10,000,” she concludes. If you have items laying around the house just taking up space, then donate it so that it can be sold at the Flea Market. There is presently a shortage of flea market items so be sure to donate anything you can spare that isn’t clothing. Do you have books, movies, cds, dvds or other non-pirated media you’d like to donate? They’ll take those too. Donations are accepted all year. If you’d like to donate your time or services don’t forget you can do that too.
“The Library Fair is a time-honored tradition in Milledgeville. It’s something I look forward to every year,” says Library Director Barry Reese. “Each year I’ve seen it become better and better. It means so much to me and to Friends of the Library. With so many budget uncertainties, we really need and appreciate the money we raise during the Fair.” It’s not too late to take part so be sure that you don’t forget about this upcoming event. If you’re a whiz in the kitchen, donate a baked goods item or items. If you were thinking of selling some of your stuff and just haven’t gotten around to it, donate it to the Fair. “We’re nothing without the support of those we serve,” states Mr. Reese. “If you can help in any way, please do so.”
The 31st Annual Library Fair will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 9am to 2pm at the Mary Vinson Memorial Library located in historic downtown Milledgeville. All they need is you!
